During the Second World War, Captain Miles Roselli hides three dead comrades and a fortune in Vatican gold in the Tibesti Mountains of the northern Sahara. Twenty years later, he is forced into a battle of wits when the secret of the gold bullion is revealed. Roselli was the only man alive who knew anything about the gold’s whereabouts and never expected the truth to come to light. The slaughter of a gold bullion dealer in London opens up a race for the gold, which involves the Italian mafia and the Vatican. But for the Holy See of Rome, the gold is of little interest to them, it is the document that had been stolen from the Secret Archives and concealed with the gold; its revelation could do lasting damage to the Roman Catholic Church. Roselli has to call on all his old instincts and the guile of a Desert Rat to protect his name, his family and the truth that lies buried beneath the Tibesti Mountains.
Roselli Gold edition by Michael Parker Literature Fiction eBooks
Venturing into the remote North African desert in search of lost gold is a compelling adventure in itself, but when it includes a secret that affects the credibility of the Church, the stakes are ramped up exponentially. Roselli's Gold is a fast-paced, multilayered thrill ride with intriguing twists at every turn, and a variety of angles that add depth and interest. Well-developed characters and great descriptions put you right in the action. A recommended read; I'll probably be checking out more of this author's work.Product details

Roselli Gold edition by Michael Parker Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I hoped for more but it was an OK read.
I have always wondered what happened to the heroes of the North Africa battles ofWWII. if you like suspense, drama, excitement, and just plain fun reading follow Roselli's actions during and after the war. You will love every page of this story. I have always wanted to say,"it was a book I just couldn't put down until I finished it" Finally I found one. Get Roselli's Gold I bet you won't put it down either! A great piece of work by Mr. Parker. I'll be buying more of his works.
Action filled "story" of gold stolen from the Vatican during WWII . A variety of different parties are interested in finding the gold, one of the original group of soldiers involved in the battle, the mafia, the vatican and others!! Fantastic hunt across continents to recover the gold from a desert cave..
A little heavy and difficult to stay with. Not what I would consider a "cozy", but well-written. Just didn't flip my switch!
Roselli's Gold is not my usual type of book to read, I like romance and love stories. So I was really surprised to find that I couldn't put it down. Each chapter tossed out another bit of the story and I actually found myself curious to see where the next one would take me. The characters were believable, the story was easy to follow and the ending didn't disappoint. Kudos to Mr. Parker!
Roselli's Gold is a quick, light read--a mildly entertaining story about WWII gold and a lost Vatican secret. The parts of the book that were good reminded me of a cross between Indiana Jones and the Jack Higgins novel "Sheba". The cover art was particularly intriguing and I spotted very few typos, impressive for a self-pubbed book.
What I didn't like there were too many angles to the story for each to be developed sufficiently in the pages allocated. You have the Vatican, Roselli, Roselli's kids, the Mafia, the French--at some point it became mind-numbing. And I was let down by the ending, felt anti-climactic after all that had gone before. There is also a case of incest that, while not explicit, was totally unnecessary. It didn't add anything to the story and just gave me a queasy feeling.
I would give the plotting four stars and the characterization two. Michael Parker is an author of some talent, and I'll probably be reading more of him in the future.
This is the kind of story that I truly enjoy reading. It starts off with action during WWII and picks up many years later with the constant threat of some secret that might harm the Catholic church. I liked the mix of characters from the old soldiers involved in the WWII incident to the church officials and security to the young adults who get involved. And, to make it even more interesting, the Mafia!
I thought the action was pretty non-stop, the adventure and intrigue unrelenting, and interplay and hint of romance icing on the story.
I did find a number of errors that a professional editor would have picked up and in a couple of places, these errors did make reading a little more difficult for I slogged through it.
